Step 1

What is my goal for Step 1?

  • Learn about the concepts and tools of the quality improvement process

How can I achieve this goal?

  • The way in which you decide to learn about quality improvement is up to you. You can complete self-directed reading, attend courses (local, national or online), or complete Quality Self-Assessment Modules. The American Board of Radiology (ABR) has no requirements on what should comprise the learning process.

What does RadiologyQuality.com recommend to fulfill this requirement?

  1. Understand the Maintenance of Certification Part IV process by reading the following article produced by the ABR. This article was published in multiple journals simultaneously but only AJR currently provides free access.
    1. Strife JL, Gary LE, Becker J, Dunnick NR, Bosma J, Hattery RR. The American Board of Radiology perspective on maintenance of certification: part IV--Practice quality improvement in diagnostic radiology. AJR Am J Roentgenol. 2007 May;188(5):1183-1186. http://www.ajronline.org/cgi/content/full/188/5/1183
  2. Learn about radiology practice quality improvement by doing additional reading
